New Version is TERRIBLE stay away
The animation in the main window is cute, but also distracting and pointless. And a subscription to get animated radar in Notification Center, even on the paid version of the app? That’s just an opening for another developer to come and eat your lunch. This isnt a bad app, but it’s not overwhelmingly better than just bookmarking a weather or local news website.
It’s a nice, full-featured weather program. It has all the info I need. I would like the ability to customize the displayed such as the location of the text.
This one seems to be the best out of all of them in the app store :) Great job!
When opening the full app window, the location map zooms in way way too tight in whatever it considers is the center of the city. I’ve tried clicking on the minus sign to go outward, but it always reverts to this too close-in spot after the app window is closed and then re-opened. This should be fixed.
I have weather for both the US and UK set up. A UK town is set as default. Imagine my surprise when the temperature icon was lit up in red indicating a severe alert even though it was sunny outside. I went to the app and saw that the sever alert was for a town in the US, but the actual text said that there was a severe thunderstorm over Scotland OR over a town maybe 100 miles away from the town in the US. The app obviously gets confused. Sort of wish I hadn’t bought it on sale over the weekend. Also, the main app needs a complete overhaul. It is rather ugly, and the animations add nothing, but instead get in the way.
This is a nice app with great graphics. The only thing I might suggest is to make the graphic smaller and the weather info larger.
I’ve used this for several years now. It’s simple, it’s beautiful, and it tells me what the forecast is.
I love this app and use it every day. Support the developers by purchasing the app. They’ve done a very nice job with the graphics and the features. I have it on MacBook Pro Retina and my iMac with Retina 5K display and I really ove the graphics on the 27” screen when in full screen view. I have the raindrops image on it right now since it’s raining outside and it looks amazing!
I have used this app for years, and it is good to see it continue to improve. I agree with another reviewer that asking for a subscription for the radar widget in a paid app is not a good move. Anyway, that aside, it is still a beautiful and useful app. The drop down info on the menu bar needs some tweaking however, as it is next to impossible to see the weather graphics. There are a very light grey, and with Yosemite’s translucency, I can’t see them. I would like to see the graphics on he menu bar in a darker color so it is readable.
This product is so limited in the data it provides it is not worth the time or effort to install it.
I like this app except for the fact that the severe weather warnings are coming from a weather station considerably east of my location, which makes them pretty useless.
I rated this app 2 stars because for checking daily weather, it seems to do okay. However, we were recently in a TORNADO WARNING, and the app simply told me partly cloudy. No severe weather warning on the main screen and the severe tab was blank. It’s very pretty, and makes a neat screen saver if you run it in full screen, but this glaring flaw prevented me from rating it 4 or 5 stars. I would not rely on this application to notify me of severe weather. If I want to look at pretty images of weather, it’s golden though. In short; according to this application I was in no danger when in reality a tornado touched down just west of me and the storm caused enough damage to leave a large chunk of the local population (70,000+) without power for up to 2 days.
I have been using this app for over a year and for that period of time the daily highs listed for my hometown, a small town in the mountains of Virginia, have exceeded the actual on the ground temperatures by an average of 8%. When I delete the app and reload it, it then updates and reflects a more accurate temperature but soon (within hours) returns to its “inflated” daily highs. I am not sure if it is because of a faulty source for the recorded temperatures or a “global warming” adjustment conjured by the computer models used.
They made a mistake and let a Mountion Lion user like myself update to Yosemite. I dont have Yosemite. so it crashed. tried everything. then I got a refund from the APP because, I wasent supposed to get an update. now, I am able to download the older version and everything works. YAY!
I don’t know that it has much more utility or functionality than the various competing free versions. The “simulated videos” of the weather conditions are cool but kind of pointless. To see a hi-def video of raindrops to accompany the prediction doesn’t actually add much. Does look great but for $10 bucks ...
I purchased this app fairly soon after buying my laptop. It’s an excellent app that does most of what I want and was inexpensive. Plus, the graphic visualizations are not bad and fun to look at. :)
App used to be awesome and by far the best weather app around but it hasn’t been updated since March and desperately needs some work. The maps and radar hardly ever load and the alerts are messed up.
The graphics are nice, especially the animations of current weather conditions. But beyond that, I’m disappointed. Forecasts aren’t always accurate or up to date, and when I try to zoom in on clouds map the clouds disappear even though they’re visible with wider view. Too inconsistent, sometimes it works fine other times it doesn’t. For $2.99, I’d expect better.
